Naturopathic Medicine is a patient-centered approach to healthcare that recognizes the body’s natural ability to heal. It focuses on treating the whole person and addressing the underlying causes of illness rather than simply managing symptoms.
To better understand the root causes of chronic conditions or support optimal health, a systems-biology perspective and personalized assessment are essential. Along with standard blood work, specialized functional laboratory testing can provide deeper insight into how the body’s systems are functioning. This allows Naturopathic Doctors to develop tailored, individualized treatment plans for each patient.
Treatments are science-informed, evidence-based, and supported by years of clinical experience from integrative and functional medicine practitioners. The goal of naturopathic medicine is to improve health today while supporting long-term wellness for the future.
Naturopathic Doctors work with patients across a broad spectrum of health needs, from prevention and health optimization to long-term chronic complex conditions. Many patients with chronic complex conditions come to EnviroMed Clinic after years of persistent symptoms, multiple specialist visits, and limited success with treatments offered through traditional health care.
The combination of therapies that may be used, include the following:
Training & Education
In Ontario, Naturopathic Doctors are licensed healthcare professionals who can provide diagnosis and treatment. They are regulated by the College of Naturopaths of Ontario.
A Naturopathic Medical degree is a four-year postgraduate medical program completed after a 4 year premed-undergraduate studies. Training is obtained through accredited naturopathic medical schools of which there are currently only two in Canada.
Naturopathic medical education includes extensive training in biochemistry, physiology, pathology, clinical nutrition, therapeutic dosing of nutrients, pharmacology and pharmaceutical prescription training, botanical medicine, acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chinese herbal medicine, and lifestyle-based therapies. These disciplines are used together to restore balance across multiple systems of the body and support overall health.
At EnviroMed clinic, our medical focus is Environmental Medicine. Our doctors have received extensive additional training from the founder of Environmental Medicine, Dr. Walter Crinnion, who has had over 40 years of experience in this field.
Our practitioners assess your symptoms to identify whether toxins and toxicants are a primary causative agent in your health concerns. We take a detailed exploration of your current and past exposures and request additional lab testing if needed.
Our initial assessment is lengthy 1 hour investigation session to obtain a thorough understanding of all your medical history, symptoms, residence, job history, and hobbies. This may result in further analysis through blood, urine, or saliva to obtain quantitative measures of current and past toxic exposures. These tests are measured against the most accurate reference ranges that have been published from the largest environmental exposure studies at the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) and the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).
Toxicants and toxins exposure investigation may include:
Our treatment plans focus on reducing toxic burden through a combination of exposure avoidance, environmental risk reduction, and targeted in-clinic therapies such as IV Nutrient Therapy and Colon Hydrotherapy. These approaches are complemented by therapeutic oral supplementation of vitamins & minerals, and personalized lifestyle changes that patients implement at home.
Together, these therapies provide key nutrients and support the body’s natural detoxification and elimination pathways. At EnviroMed, our goal is to guide patients toward long-term health by empowering them with the knowledge and tools to make lifestyle choices that reduce their overall toxic body burden
